Emergency Q is a digital service that reduces crowding in Hospital Emergency Departments (EDs) by creating a live connection between patients, EDs and Doctors’ clinics.
It empowers patients suited to primary care by providing data allowing them to make informed decisions about where to seek treatment. Client ED volumes have reduced by up to 14%, saving 104,000 hours of patient and staff time, and significantly reducing ED costs while increasing access among lower socioeconomic groups to primary care.
As a proven platform Emergency Q is now being made available to other hospitals both in New Zealand and around the world.
Our job is to tackle the longstanding problem of hospital ED overcrowding. We do this by putting the power back into the hands of patients and their whanau/carers when it comes to making decisions about urgent primary care. Placing the right data in the hands of patients enables informed decision making and pathway selection. That’s what we do.
Technology and people enabling patients to get the best care, faster.
Empowering patients to make smart urgent care choices.

Emergency Q, and any information provided in or through Emergency Q, is provided on an “as is” basis. Your use of Emergency Q is at your own risk and you are solely responsible for your use of Emergency Q. Emergency Q is provided for information purposes only and is not intended to be used to replace the advice of a qualified health care provider. If you are unsure whether to use Emergency Q please contact your qualified health care provider.
Emergency Q is supplied from and to New Zealand and we do not warrant that Emergency Q is appropriate or available for use in any other country other than New Zealand. Emergency Q does not provide care options in every part of New Zealand and only provides patients and carers with data in areas where hospitals and providers of primary care have agreed to use Emergency Q and made their data available.
Emergency Q only provides data relating to participating healthcare providers (hospitals and urgent care/after-hours clinics) and does not necessarily offer a comprehensive list of all available healthcare providers, or of those that are nearest to you. There may be healthcare providers other than the providers shown on Emergency Q that are available and closer to you.
We value your feedback and aim to improve the service Emergency Q provides. Please note that we DO NOT give clinical advice. If you have health concerns, please do not message us, but instead contact your general practitioner or nearest healthcare professional. In the event of a medical emergency DIAL 111 for an ambulance.
